Double Process Color:
Double process color requires lightening or bleaching prior
to the application of the desired toner or gloss. Double process
color service has been around for many years. This color service
was responsible for transforming the pretty Norma Jean into
the unbelievably beautiful star named Marilyn Monroe, and
launched a new era in hair color with glamorous high lift
pastel blondes. Today we are finding that what goes around
comes around. You can see a lot of double process blondes
in fashion magazines and all over. We are coloring more and
more men these days and the men are finding that blondes do
have more fun.

HIGHLIGHTING HAIR (CAP):
There are several methods and products used to highlight
the hair. Originally the frosting cap was the method of choice.
The hair is pulled through a plastic or rubber cap with fine
crochet hook and the exposed hair is colored to create the
effect of contrast or highlight. This technique is typically
used today on very short hair on men and women.
A popular service for men with salt and pepper hair is a
cap lowlight. The desired look is a totally undetectable hair
color service that takes years off someone's appearance. The
gray hair is pulled through the cap and then colored back
to the pepper or natural hair color. The finished look is
youthful and natural with the appearance of 20 to 50 percent
less gray leaving little or no line of demarcation as it grows
out.

HIGHLIGHTING HAIR WITH FOIL:
Foil highlighting has become the most popular color service
offered in our salon today. Currently, hair color is approached
in newer and more creative ways than ever before. Every day
we see people everywhere with highlights. Most of the highlight
services applied today are prepared with the use of tinfoil.
Foil has become the most important tool that a colorist will
use to create chunky bold contrasting colors, fine natural
streaks, dimensional shading or any combination of these effects.
Clients in the salon with tinfoil applied to their hair are
a very common sight in our salon everyday.
Most clients will request a full head of foil and the blonde
color will be dispersed evenly throughout the entire head.
We see this even highlight on conservative styles however
we can create a more bold lightening effect by taking thicker
sections of hair in each piece of foil and processing the
color to a lighter, brighter and bolder desired color.
A popular method of maintaining the highlights in between
each full head of foils would be a half head of highlights.
This process is done in about a half hour and gives the appearance
of a full head with all hair on top and in front being freshly
touched up.
Another technique of foiling is face framing highlights or
lowlights. Here we take foil in a radical fashion to create
the effect of a chunky streaking around the face. This look
is found typically on longer strands of hair angled at the
front or on top of the head. Highlights and lowlights together
gives contrast from roots to the ends and is more dramatic
than just highlights alone.
Tri color highlights are very creative and can be achieved
